Not everyone feels the same way about stretchmarks. For some, they’re like a badge of honor—an imprint earned from pregnancy or a reminder of successful weight loss. For others, stretchmarks can be something that they feel self-conscious about and always try to hide. If you’re part of the group who’d rather do without them, keep reading! Dr. Vicki Belo talks about the exclusive technique they use to erase these skin imperfections.
What Dr. Belo Says: “Our skin has elastic cells that are like the rubber bands of our skin, helping it stretch and contract. When you gain weight too quickly—like during pregnancy—you stretch your skin too fast. That’s why you see all those red or white stripes.
Fortunately, we were able to develop an effective combination of treatments called the Time Capsule. We use a laser (like Picosure or the Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment) in combination with Air Dissector and the application of growth and stem factor serums. The Air Dissection, or the injection of compressed oxygen into the skin, is crucial because you’re able to create pockets where the growth factors and stem factors can penetrate. This allows them to repair the stretchmarks more effectively.
It can be a long process, usually a minimum of six sessions every 2 to 3 months, but don’t get discouraged. The reason why the gap has to be big is because the skin is in the process of being repaired and you don’t want to stop it since this is the best way to maximize results. It’s a continuous cycle of repairing and healing, but it will be worth it when you see the appearance of your stretchmarks getting better after each session.”
