5 Anti-Aging Habits You Need to Start Practicing In Your Late 20s

By Ysabel Vitangcol on February 9, 2021

Everyone in their 20s thinks the fountain of youth is theirs for the taking. Au contraire. According to Dr. Vicki Belo, the aging process begins at 25, and if you’re not  careful, the very first signs of aging can creep up on you in your early 30s. That is, if you don’t take preventative measures! Here are five anti-aging habits you need to start practicing as soon as you hit 25.

  1. Taking collagen supplements.

As soon as you hit your mid-20s, collagen—the skin’s structural protein that keeps it firm, resilient and hydrated—starts to decrease, leading to dryness, dullness, and the appearance of fine lines. To replace those depleted collagen stores, supplements are key. The Belo Nutraceuticals Collagen Powder Drink or Belo Nutra Collagen Melon Smoothie are easy to mix with milk, coffee, or even as part of a cocktail. The older you get, the more sachets a day you’ll need.

  1. Getting serious about your sunblock.

Sunblock every day! Even indoors! Even when it’s raining! UV damage occurs from cooking, using your phone, and other indoor activities, not just from sun exposure. Over time, the accumulation of sun damage causes you to look older and more dull. Your late 20s are a good place to start if you haven’t taken this advice seriously yet!

  1. Working out… at least once or twice a week.

We’re not telling you to go from zero to one hundred here. But if your workout routine is, er, nonexistent, best change that now, even if it’s just once or twice a week. Your body needs to get moving for heart health, metabolism, skin health (yep!) and more.

  1. Cutting out toxic habits and people.

So there’s quitting smoking and drinking only in moderation. But there’s also letting go of relationships that no longer serve you, being clear about your boundaries, and recognizing your own toxic traits so you can become better. Both work hand-in-hand to help you age less hastily, believe it or not.

  1. Doing whatever the heck it is that makes you happy.

Honestly, as you get older, fewer and fewer things retain their original sense of joy and wonder. So if you have something—or someone—that makes you deliriously, undeniably happy, hold on to that and never let it go. You can take all the collagen supplements you want, but if you’re not feeling happy and beautiful on the inside, it’ll all be for nothing. Ask yourself: what are the things, activities, and people that give me joy? Then, find ways to make them a more permanent part of your life.

Happy backwards aging, Belo Beauties!
