Unlocking Clear Skin: The Science Behind ADVALight

By Ysabel Vitangcol on November 24, 2023

Did you know that Filipinos are more prone to having oily skin due to the year round hot climate in the Philippines? Fortunately, we at Belo can handle those zits or stubborn acne with our groundbreaking treatments such as ADVALight. Let’s discover the science behind the world’s most advanced  solid-state yellow laser.

What exactly is ADVALight?

A treatment that helps heal your scars and hyperpigmentation as well as removing bacteria that causes acne, Advanced Valence Light or ADVALight produces two wavelengths in a single spot to address a wide range of conditions, notably overactive oil glands and acne. “ADVALight targets active acne, oily skin, sun damage and pigments instantly,” says Dr. Jona Louise Macaraeg-Jimenez, Managing Physician of Belo BGC. “It also targets skin tone and texture.”

There are two types of ADVALight treatments:

  • ADVAClear® – best for treating acne and acne scars. This is the only laser in the world to combine 1319nm, widely accepted as the gold standard in addressing overactive oil glands with 589nm, the wavelength of choice when targeting acne bacteria and the underlying vascular structure which supports cystic nodes.
  • ADVAYouth® – best for treating scars and wrinkles. The 589nm wavelength  helps remove redness, while the 1319nm wavelength helps rebuild collagen in the area. ADVAYouth also helps improve texture, tone, and pore size with the 1319nm wavelength to stimulate collagen regenesis and breaking down of proteins

ADVALight contains pure yellow and high powered infrared laser energy that targets the likes of undesired vascular abnormalities such as telangiectasia (small, widened blood vessels), hemangiooma (vascular birthmarks) and venous lakes (blue-purple like swells), resulting in a more youthful and healthy state for your skin. It also targets the vascular components of melanoma and dyschromia which helps limit oil production and shrinking pore size.

ADVALight is a gentle laser that is safely performed on people of all ages and most skin tones.

What’s an ADVALight treatment like?

ADVALight requires no emla (topical anesthesia). Protective goggles will also be worn by the patient for protection against the harsh light. Afterwards, a gliding gel is applied on the face or targeted areas where the laser hits in circular motions. Depending on the area, this would last around 15-30 minutes.

Your Belo doctor will also adjust the ADVALight setting on the needed wavelength, depending on the skin condition(s) of the patient.

Is it painful?

It isn’t! The treatment is designed to be comfortable. However, there may be mild downtime such as redness.

ADVALight also contains Quasi CW pulsing, delivering individual pulses of energy at a repetition rate of 12 kHz; which is mild enough to not bruise or create trauma to the surrounding tissue.

When will I see the results, and how long does this last? How many sessions do I need to do?

Since ADVALight treats the skin both inside and outside, you can see results almost instantly after the treatment. For more long-term results, our Belo doctors recommend four to six sessions with a two week interval. Over time, your oil production will improve, and you can notice acne will begin to diminish.

Belo ADVALight’s price may vary, depending on the doctor’s recommendation. We’ve got exclusive ADVALight offers starting November 24 to December 29, 2023. To know more, click here. When you’re ready, call 8819-BELO (2356) or click here to book a consultation!
