What Makes Aunt Julie’s TikToks So Funny?
February 26, 2021
If you know Macoy Averilla, aka Macoy Dubs, from the massive platform that is TikTok, then you’re no doubt familiar with his alter ego, Aunt Julie. From conversations with kids Cassandra and Roberto to ‘reunions’ with her Assumptionista batchmates, she’s living her best tita life—and makes us giggle along the way. Recently, she linked up with her kumareng doktora, Dr. Vicki Belo, to try an exciting new procedure. What did Aunt Julie have done on her Belo Day, you ask?
Like every one of us, she gained some quarantine weight (this is on you, sushi bake), and she broke out a little as well. We all tend to put on the pounds when living an indoor, sedentary lifestyle. Furthermore, breakouts during quarantine period were painfully common (Jess Wilson had a similar experience).
Before anything else, Dr. Belo recommended something fundamental: a basic facial with cleaning. This is an important first step to reach your skin goals. Not much can be done if your pores are clogged! For Aunt Julie, who’s prone to oiliness, the Glycopeel Cleaning was the perfect solution. It uses glycolic acid to gently exfoliate and ward off acne and sebum. “When I was in high school, I used to have a lot of breakouts,” she said. “This [facial], it really feels nice, no? The acid is working its way down to my pores to release the impurities…it really feels light and refreshing.”
To address both of these issues at once, Dr. Belo recommended Vivace. This fantastic new RF/microneedling treatment uses 36 gold-tipped needles to inject radiofrequency into the dermis and create micro-injuries that encourage your skin to heal and produce collagen (aka new baby-soft skin!).
It also tightens the skin, so you can see why this was the perfect treatment for our Aunt Julie. “Nafifeel ko ‘yung needles!” she exclaimed. “It penetrates even to my skin, but then hindi siya yung masakit na parang kurot.” That’s because EMLA, a topical anesthesia made with lidocaine and prilocaine, was applied and left to set for 45 minutes prior to the procedure. We can’t guarantee a total removal of discomfort, but the treatment definitely becomes tolerable—for some, even comfortable—because of this step.
So while we can’t have our Belo Days for now, we hope we’ll see you at our clinics once we’re allowed to reopen. Mark the Glycopeel Cleaning and Vivace for your next pamper day, so you can glow up just like Aunt Julie did!
