While over-the-counter creams are there to slow down signs of aging, dermal fillers are quickly becoming a popular solution for men and women. It’s an injectable treatment that plumps and smoothens wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin in the face, neck, or hands.

While both use needles to treat wrinkles and lines in the face, Botox and dermal fillers are actually very different from each other. Dr. March Babaran of Belo Medical Group says, “Botox is a toxin that relaxes the muscles. Dermal fillers contour, volumize, and lift—it’s a totally different thing.”
Just like your skincare products, there are many other variants of dermal fillers. “The most popular dermal fillers that we use is hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of our body,” Dr. March says. “In the past, we used to inject fillers [that are] silicone-based or foil. But now, there are different types of hyaluronic acid depending on the needs.
