When you hear the term “Skin Genius,” it’s not exactly self-explanatory. And if you’re a beginner to the self-care game, you might find yourself wondering exactly what the fuss is all about. During David’s pre-treatment consultation with Dr. Vicki Belo, she explains that the machine is called ‘Genius’ because of its intuitive ability to analyze your skin. “It’s the only machine that reads your skin: the thickness of your skin, and your pores. Is the treatment painful?

When you hear the words “RF” or “insulated microneedling,” you might associate that with some discomfort. But according to David, the pain is minimal compared to other treatments like Thermage FLX and Ulthera. “Parang ito yung pinaka-less painful,” he explained while putting on his robe to prepare for the treatment. “Lalagyan nila ako ng anesthesia sa face.” The application of EMLA cream, a local anesthetic that contains lidocaine and prilocaine, blocks the nerve signals in your body to make Genius a comfortable experience. David rated the treatment at 6-7 out of 10. “Nung una, medyo magugulat ka, pero pag tumatagal, medyo pipikit ka na lang kasi medyo relaxing in some parts,” he said. 

How long until I see results?

You will see immediate results even halfway through your treatment. Dr. Belo did the right side of David’s face first, so that they could do a side-by-side comparison. True enough, David’s right side looked tighter and more lifted. “Grabe, kita na agad yung results! Super mas lifted na siya,” he said. “Do you see that? I can’t pinch anymore,” Dr. Belo explained during her pinch test. What’s the downtime like?

After one day, David noticed some dotted marks on his face as a result of the microneedling process. This is normal, and will fade in a few days. David was sent home with some Belo Prescriptives Laser Cream and Tyrosinase Inhibitor, plus ZO Sunscreen + Primer to prevent photodamage. 

How long will the results last? What other results will I see?

“It keeps getting better for the next three months,” Dr. Belo explained to David after the treatment. A 40-minute treatment gives you results that will last for 6-18 months, depending on your age and skin condition. David was recommended to do the treatment only once a year.

David not only saw a more chiseled jawline and lifted skin, but also noticed a dramatic reduction in oil production and appearance of acne marks!
