Meet Dr. Dax Pascasio: Belo Medical Group’s Expert in Orthognathic and Craniofacial Surgery
September 19, 2025
Blending surgical precision with patient-centered care that empowers you to feel like your best self, Dr. Tristan Catindig is Belo Medical Group’s expert in male chest contouring. Now part of the Belo family, he is dedicated to restoring chest definition, balance, and, most importantly, confidence with natural-looking results.
Early in medical school, Dr. Catindig envisioned becoming a brain surgeon. But a pivotal rotation in plastic surgery changed his path entirely. What drew him in was the artistry of the field: the idea that there isn’t just one “correct” solution but multiple approaches to achieve the best result. This balance of science and creativity resonated with him and set the foundation for his surgical career.
From there, he honed his skills and built a career not only in aesthetics but also in helping people regain something even more valuable than appearances: confidence. Known for his thoughtful, conservative approach, he carefully evaluates each patient, guiding them toward the most appropriate treatment while prioritizing safety, ethics, and trust.
With more than 20 years of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Catindig now joins Belo’s team of expert surgeons. Specializing in breast-related procedures, including gynecomastia surgery for men with enlarged breast tissue. A graduate of the UP College of Medicine, he is also a Fellow of the Philippine Associate of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons (PAPRAS).
One of Dr. Catindig’s main area of expertise is gynecomastia surgery. This refers to the treatment for enlarged male breast tissue, often casually referred to as “man boobs.” While many assume it is a purely cosmetic issue, its impact runs much deeper. Men who experience gynecomastia often carry silent insecurities: avoiding tight or light-colored shirts, skipping social activities, or holding back from sports and hobbies they enjoy.
Dr. Catindig recognises gynecomastia as an underserved concern. “My end goal is addressing the confidence, decreasing the social and psychological stress,” he explains. The procedure flattens and reshapes the chest to look more masculine, but the true result goes beyond the physical. These restore freedom and self-assurance.
Consultations with Dr. Catindig are thorough and collaborative, something he values deeply.. He ensures his patients fully understand their condition and all treatment options, carefully walking them through pros and cons. ”I really try to find or create rapport with the patient,” he shares. “It makes the whole process easier to manage when a patient trusts you. Most of my patients actually do listen and I think if you explain it properly, they’ll see the reasoning behind the treatment plan.”
For Dr. Catindig, the most fulfilling part of his work is seeing patients transform not only in appearance but in confidence. He recalls a young man in his twenties who underwent gynecomastia surgery. Months later, the patient returned with a newfound glow—literally tanned from cycling outdoors. No longer self-conscious about wearing fitted shirts, he embraced an active lifestyle he once avoided. “I’m happy I gave him the chance to enjoy cycling again, and he’s more active now with it since he’s always held back by his manboobs,” he smiles.
Moments like this affirm Dr. Catindig’s purpose. “More than the form, the higher goal is to restore your patient’s confidence,” he shares. For him, surgery is not just about reshaping bodies but about giving people the freedom to live fully.
Ultimately, Dr. Catindig has found a career that blends passion, skill, and purpose. As he puts it, the most rewarding part of his journey is “being able to make a living out of something he truly enjoys.”
He adds, “Initially, I didn’t really have any plans or inkling that I’d end up as an aesthetic/cosmetic surgeon. But the nice thing about it is the reconstructive part of plastic surgery is the one where you really hone your skills and even how fast you think. Anything is easier if you genuinely enjoy what you’re doing.”
