Who is Dr. Ronaldo “Yo” Cayetano?

Dr. Cayetano joined the pioneering Belo Medical Group in 1995, just five years after its founding in 1990. He is also a charter member of the Philippine Society for Liposuction Surgery, being one of the very few doctors who trained in tumescent liposuction in the mid 1990’s. With that, he ended up becoming one of the few doctors entrusted with performing liposuction for the brand’s most discerning patients.

Today, he performs procedures at the Belo Greenhills Surgical Center and continues to lead the Belo Tomas Morato clinic. Patients often describe Dr. Yo as meticulous and reassuring—thanks to his steady hands and no-nonsense approach. These qualities have earned him the trust of many longtime patients.These are qualities that make him a favorite among longtime patients.

“As a child, as a little boy, I’ve always been fascinated with beautiful bodies. That’s why I would always watch beauty pageants on TV,” Dr. Cayetano shares. “I loved playing with my sisters’ Barbie dolls. I loved seeing those slender arms, tiny waistlines, lovely curves and long legs. With that obsession with beauty, it made me even more excited doing liposuction in order to help women to achieve a more flattering body that they would be able to flaunt.”

With over thousands of liposuctioned bodies to date, Dr. Cayetano shared one of his main motivators: loving what you do.

Vanity Rules

“If vanity means for a beautiful bride walking down the aisle, showing off her beautiful, slender arms, or for a middle-aged woman going to the beaches of Boracay wearing a one-piece suit or a young lady going for a job interview wearing tight-fitting pencil cut clothes, showing off her nice curves, maybe it’s vanity. But I don’t see anything wrong with that,” Dr. Yo said. To him, liposuction is all about the overall confidence it gives to his patients that radiate inside and out. 

“You can’t believe how transformative liposuction is,” he shared. “I have this patient – a lawyer. I saw her back in the clinic post-liposuction and can you believe it? I did not recognise that same patient prior to her surgery.” 

While she was already presentable-looking prior to her Liposuction surgery, her overall transformation “is so awesome, amazing, you wouldn’t believe it’s the same person.”

Breaking Myths

Are there patients who come in to do Liposuction for medical reasons? Dr. Cayetano answered a resounding yes.

“Liposuction is not about just being beautiful. It’s not just about vanity, but more so because they have medical issues,” he said. For example, back pains and bad posture (i.e., due to heavy abdomen/tummy area), Liposuction can correct that.” 

He breaks two common myths his patients consult him for. 1., Liposuction is NOT permanent and 2., it doesn’t solve all fat-related problems.

“Every single consultation I always emphasize to the patient the importance of maintenance: diet and exercise. Liposuction is a way to get you to the ideal size and body that you want. But, maintaining that is the job of the patient,” he said. 

Dr. Cayetano also mentioned that while other Belo non-invasive contouring procedures can also help maintain results, it still draws down to the patient’s hard work and effort in keeping in shape.  

“This includes really changing the lifestyle in order to maintain the beautiful result,” he said.
