iWave vs 360° Liposuction – what should I do?

By Ysabel Vitangcol on April 19, 2023

With swimsuit season in tow, there’s no denying that we want our bodies to be (and look) the best. Stubborn fat may get in the way in exuding that ~summer confidence, but worry not! We at Belo are here to help!

What is iWave?

iWave is the newest addition to the list of fat reduction services in Belo Medical Group. A non-surgical body contouring treatment, this is a safe and effective procedure. This is based on a combination of two innovative technologies– focused radial microwave (Microwave HyperO2 tech) and hyperbaric oxygen propulsion. These synergistically work to melt localized fat, treat cellulite, and tone the skin in specific regions of the body.

Getting an iWave treatment is very easy and comfortable. The device’s handpiece moves in circular motions over the treatment area, and also monitors your skin’s temperature. The same device sends microwaves that gently penetrate the skin, reaching the fat underneath it. This is what makes the fat cells vibrate and break down. Patients may feel a warm sensation during the procedure, but it also has a “cooling” effect to keep the patient comfortable. This provides support in improving the treatment’s effectiveness.

There are no significant side effects. However, some patients may experience mild redness, swelling or bruising that usually subsides within a few days.

How many sessions of iWave do I need in order to see the results?

We recommend 4-6 sessions once a month, depending on the individual’s goals and body type. It is still best to consult first with a Belo doctor. The doctor will discuss the procedure and what to expect that can help the patient establish expectations.

The patient must also do their part in maintaining their figure! This includes having a balanced diet and regular exercise!

What is the difference between iWave and 360° Liposuction?

360° Liposuction is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves injecting a solution of saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine into the targeted area of fat to numb the area and make it easier to remove the fat cells using a small tube called a cannula. The surgeon suctions the fat out of the body through the cannula, giving the patient a more contoured appearance.

iWave uses microwave energy to heat or freeze the fat cells, breaking them down and allowing the body to naturally eliminate them over time. This procedure is non-invasive and require little to no downtime compared to liposuction, but may require multiple treatments to achieve the desired results.

What treatment should I do?

Overall, the choice between liposuction and non-surgical alternatives depends on the patient’s individual needs and preferences. While 360° Liposuction provides more immediate and dramatic results, non-surgical alternatives may better suit those who prefer a less invasive approach with minimal downtime. Additionally, it’s important to consult with a doctor from a reliable aesthetic clinic in the Philippines about the products that best match your needs. Skincare is not a one size fits all. A Belo doctor will be able to properly assess the best ingredients and products for you based on your skin type and concerns!
