Dr. Eloisa “Eloi” Buse has been performing liposuction surgeries at Belo for over two decades as of writing.

Who is Dr. Eloisa “Eloi” Buse?

As one of the “OGs” of the Belo Medical Group (being around since 1998!), Dr. Eloisa “Eloi” Buse is the Managing Physician and a lipo surgeon of Belo Medical Group – Makati Plaza. Having performed over 20,000 liposuctioned areas to date, Dr. Buse finds fulfillment in the operating room, even 26 years later.

Prior to joining Belo, she had already met Dr. Belo herself when she was her intern at the Makati Medical Centre.

“I attended this laser conference in San Francisco, CA, and I saw her,” Dr. Buse shares. “So at lunch break, we were able to talk to each other. She was looking at me! She was like, “hey, I know you.”.

After trying it out in the United States for six years, Dr. Eloisa Buse took her talents home to the Philippines. Wanting to start working already, that’s when she reached out again to Dr. Belo for possible opportunities. The rest, they say, is history.

Early Dreams

“My dream was to become a plastic surgeon,” Dr. Buse said. “I realised there was a cosmetic side and a reconstructive side to it. I didn’t like the latter because it was very tedious – it entailed long hours of surgery.”

Dr. Buse tried her hand at dermatology but was still left unfulfilled. Liposurgery eventually paved the way for her, to which she described as “fulfilling”.

“In San Francisco, I was assisting this plastic surgeon. This is where I learned to love the cosmetic side of the surgical procedures.”

The Liposuction Journey

Through the years, Dr. Buse has done aqualiposuction, laser liposuction, and even tumescent liposuction. But the most effective, and most modern technique thus far, is Belo’s 360° Liposuction.

So how does 360° Liposuction work? It removes fat in all areas. The procedure is done in a circumferential manner, where adjacent areas surrounding the problem area are also targeted and addressed for a more streamlined look.

“Your fat is the third layer of your skin. So to be able to get through the fat, you have to poke a hole to insert the cannula, [a.k.a. a thin tube that’s used to suction the fat out. For me, it’s a minor [surgical procedure] because we’re only running parallel to the skin with the instrument,” Dr. Buse told Cosmopolitan Philippines last year.  “We don’t dive down.”

Just some of the memorable experiences of Dr. Buse includes the fulfillment of seeing a new-found confidence with her patients. How about those who aren’t qualifiied? “It’s very heartbreaking for me to say no to a patient,” Dr. Buse shares. “Especially when they’re very, very obese.”  Find out more about the qualifications below!

How do I start my 360° Liposuction Journey with Dr. Buse?

It all begins with one thing – consultation! Dr. Buse shares that she first looks at the patient’s height and weight as an ideal candidate is someone close to their body weight.

Part of the consultation is discussing what to expect and not expect from the procedure, possible side effects, recovery period, as well as the medicines that will be taken post-surgery. Dr. Buse moreover highlights the importance of abstaining from alcohol intake as this may lower the effectiveness of the medication.

Clearances also need to be done by the patient’s primary doctors before the procedure itself. These include checking the patient’s general health. Are there illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes? Are they postpartum – how many months? The delivery of the baby would also determine when the patient is able to qualify for liposuction (6 month for normal delivery, 12 months for caesarian).

Patients can resume their regular activities as early as 2-3 days after the procedure, but will be needing to wear compression garments around the areas for about one to two weeks to help the recovery process.

The Belo Experience

Twenty six years later, Dr. Buse is still happy with life inside the operating room – and has no plans of stopping anytime soon. “I started with a company having only 30 employees, now we’re 600!” she exclaims.

“Loyalty is tried and tested. We have the passion for what we do. We know that we love our boss, that’s why we’re here!”

You know you’re in good hands – and shape – with Dr. Buse!
